We are familiar with some of them like medical assistants, nurses, physicians and Pharmacists. There are many people working in hospitals other than Nurses, medical assistants and physicians. If you talk about a registered nurse, after four years bachelor degree they still get training on the laboratory procedures in detail.


There are hundreds of different Phlebotomy training programs offered by different colleges. The training classes are of 4 months to one year. The training covers Blood Collection Techniques, Standard Safety measures, communications, and some legal characteristics as well. The minimum requirements are the high school diploma but some institutes have prerequisites trainings or subjects as an admission requirement. The accreditation of the training is linked with American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), the National Credentialing Agency (NCA), American Association of Medical Personnel (AAMP) and American Medical Technologists (AMT).

It is recommended to all the students that when you take admission is any institute, check their accreditation and also see if they are well-recognized. If you are taking training from a school that is not endorsed by any governing body then it will be of no value. The Phlebotomy training and the job is to diminish the liability of nurses and to enhance patient safety. There is test students have to pass to get their certificate before they can start working. It's easier for a Certified Phlebotomists to find a job with superior incentives and salary than a person who is not certified.


Phlebotomist's salary ranges stats from $15,000 to $50,000 which is a huge difference. There are Phlebotomists working on $15,000 annually and some will be working on $50,000. The difference is due to the training, certification and the working place. So if you have taken the training from a well-recognized institute that has accreditation with a good governing body and then you have passed the certification exam; surely you will be hired by the well-known organizations.

Like most people who have dreamt about becoming a Lab Technician, Phlebotomy is very much similar to a laboratory technical operation and assistance. It's even most preferable to chose phlebotomy due to its earliest increase in necessity especially in most medical centers and blood bank establishments.
